Guidelines for Russian Scholarships for 2018-2019 Academic Year

These are the new guidelines to which  all applicants  who wish to apply for study in the Russian Federation for the 2018/2019 academic year on either scholarship or self-sponsorship program have to adhere:

 There are two programs under which you may apply for study in the Russian Federation, namely: 

1) The Russian Government Scholarship Programme or

2) The Self-Sponsorship Programme

Both programs offer the following levels:

a) Bachelor

b) Master

c) Doctorate/PhD

Whichever programme the applicant's choice may be, the following must be observed for timely processing of applications and paperwork:

 

RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

All applicants intending to apply for study scholarships at the Universities of the Russian Federation must submit the following documents between the and 15-th of October, 2017 and 15-th February, 2018. Deadline for application submission is 14-th February, 2018.

N.B. For applicants from countries other than Uganda, they will have to send SCANNED copies of the documents below to our agency through our applications' department e-mail address apply@soyuzonline.net

The following documents are required upon submission of the application:

1. Passport copy (must be valid for at least one and a half years before expiration date).

2. Academic Certificates/Pass Slips for both 'O' and 'A' level

3. Birth Certificate (copy)

4. 1 coloured passport-size photo (recent)

Application fee is US$ 50. The application form is in Russian language, and the Soyuzonline staff is going to fill it in for you basing on the information gotten from the documents you sent. You do not need to fill in any form, hence DO NOT request for any application form!!!

Please bear in  mind that working on the above documents will attract some fee for translation, notarisation, legalisation and certification. Please check with the Russian Embassy or Consulate in your country about their fees for those services.

Once the scholarship is accorded it covers the following:

  1. The scholarship covers full tuition for the entire duration of your study
  2. The scholarship covers accommodation costs for the entire duration of your study.
  3. You will be provided with a minimal monthly allowance.
  4. The scholarship DOES NOT cover the following: Annual Medical Insurance, Up-keep, Food and Airticket for travel to the Russian Federation  and back home after studies.
  5. You must have a valid passport (at least one and a half years valid before expiration)

All applicants are given the opportunity to choose from 6 different Universities of their choice regardless of the course they wish to study.  Soyuzonline staff will guide the applicant through the process of choosing the desired Institution of Higher Learning.

SELF-SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

All applicants intending to apply for study under the self-sponsorship program at the Universities of the Russian Federation must submit the following documents between the 15-th of October, 2017 and 15-th February, 2018. Deadline for application submission is 14-th February, 2018.

The following documents are required upon submission of the application:

N.B. For applicants from other countries other than Uganda, they will have to send SCANNED copies of the documents below to our agency through our e-mail address apply@soyuzonline.net

1. Passport copy (must be valid for at least one and a half years before expiration date).

2. Academic Certificates/Pass Slips for both 'O' (Ordinary) and 'A' (Advanced) level of Education

3. Birth Certificate (copy)

4. 6 coloured passport-size photos (For applicants outside Uganda,  please send only one scanned copy of your passport-size photo)

Please bear in  mind that working on the above documents will attract some fee for translation, notarisation, legalisation and certification. Please check our office  or check with the Russian Embassy or Consulate in your country about their fees for those services and other information related to your application.

All applicants are given the opportunity to choose from 6 different Universities of their choice regardless of the course they wish to study.  Soyuzonline staff will guide the applicant through the process of University / Institution choice.

There are no application fees but there are charges that the applicant  has to meet as stated below.

Please also be aware that admission fees on this program are US $800 and the office charges (operational costs) are US$ 250.  These fees are used for course booking, processing admission,  hostel booking, invitation processing, courier dispatch of the documents and other related bank charges.

The admission confirmation letter will be sent between 5-7 days after application approval and the invitation from the host University will then be sent between 21-40 days. It is on the basis of the invitation that a travel visa can be issued by the Embassy or Consulate of the Russian Federation in your country of residence.

P.S. For prospective students,  it is advisable to start taking a Russian language course at any of our Institutions or in your country if possible. In Uganda, we are currently offering Russian language courses at Makerere University, at the College of  Food Technolgy & Bio-Engineering starting from 1-st of March of each year at a fee of UGX 150,000 per month or UGX 450,000 for three months. The course ends on the 30-th of June of each year. Please note that fees are subject to changes depending on circumstances without prior notice. We shall, however, endeavour to keep you updated through this website.

The following items are very vital for any person wishing to study in the Russian Federation:

  1. Medical Certificate confirming that the applicant is in good health condition fit for study in Russia.
  2. Medical Certificate confirming that the applicant is HIV/AIDS negative.

These are also subject to translation into Russian language and legalised by the Embassy/Consulate of the Russian Federation in Uganda. Each document attracts a fee of $40.00 for legalising and $50.00 for notarising at the Russian Embassy/Consulate! Please note that this fee is paid at the Russian Embassy Consular Section in US Dollars in cash form. However, the most important documents that require legalising by the Embassy/Consulate are the Academic Transcripts and the Birth Certificate.
